About Our Aussies

We fell in absolute love with the Australian Shepherd breed when we were doing work as a dog trainer in the early 2000's. The eagerness of the breed to please, their devotion to their families and their extreme intelligence were just a few of the things that originally attracted us to them. As we began our research to add one to our family we realized the working background of the breed had a bit of a downfall, they can be very high drive and energetic. If this increased energy is not expended and the physical/mental needs of the individual dog met those behaviors can quickly turn into destruction and wreck havoc on a family household. Further digging led us to discover there was a solution coming underway; a few high-quality breeders were working diligently using selective breeding methods and successful animal husbandry to develop a lower energy and less herding drive Australian Shepherd - thus, lines of what is now known as the 'non-working' line Australian Shepherd were born. There was a definite need for it, as it helps to ensure that even families who may not enjoy life with acreage or spacious yards can still enjoy the amazing, family focused temperament qualities of the breed while also meeting the less demanding energy output needs of the 'non-working' line. These 'non-working' line bred Australian Shepherds are easy to train, eager to learn, highly biddable, extremely devoted to their families, social, outgoing and gentle natured! They mature quickly and once past the energetic puppy stage turn into mellow and calm indoor family companions. We officially started our Australian Shepherd breeding program in 2014 with the encouragement and mentorship of a long term breeder. Although we've always had a huge passion for dogs since a very young age, it was definitely fate which led us to develop a relationship with this breeder who was excited by the prospect of having a young family so passionate about helping to keep the ball rolling with the 'non-working' lines. Temperament is 100% hereditary which is why we are so particular about the dogs we use in our program. When we aren't actively breeding we also do volunteer therapy work with our adult dogs - visiting schools, nursing homes and elderly living facilities in our local communities. It is such rewarding work and our dogs are truly in their happy place when they get to join us on our visits! Many of our past puppies have gone on to become therapy dogs, service dogs and facility animals due to their calm and friendly natures! We recommend our puppies for moderately active families and adopt out to indoor homes only. If this breed sounds like it would be a great fit for your family we invite you to fill out an application!

About Our Morkies

We didn't originally pursue the idea of breeding Morkies, we just wanted to own one as our personal pet. The fact that they are social, gentle, fun loving, travel size and non shedding as well as being renowned as one of the very best toy breeds for families with children seemed like a no brainer to us! Finding a Morkie with a good temperament background and coming from lines of genetic integrity was a priority for us (being a part of the breeding world we understand how important this is). Unfortunately, we were very disappointed in what we found. We talked to many self proclaimed 'quality' breeders before giving up on our search. We decided that we would have to become that breeder for others that also hold those standards in high regard. Regardless of the fact we are blending two breeds and creating what is essentially a 'mixed breed' a great breeder should still strive to be putting out quality with the lines they choose to work with, using purebred dogs to prove lineage and heath testing to prove longevity. In what started out of frustration of not being able to find one for ourselves we gave found a true passion for these teeny canines! We call them our non-shedding, travel size Aussies! Our Morkies generally mature in size from 4-7 lbs as adults. The Morkie is a mixed breed dog - a cross between a purebred Maltese and a purebred Yorkshire Terrier. Sometimes they are referred to as a Morkshire Terrier. Small, comical and bouncy with a happy-go-lucky and naturally social temperament these puppies have inherited some of the best qualities from their parents and are quickly gaining popularity as the perfect 'toy breed' for family and companion life! Yorkies are generally quiet, loyal, playful, confident and very smart but have a coarser coat quality, can have a high prey drive and can be stubborn or difficult to obedience train. Morkie's do very well with high energy households and don't bond overly strong to any one person - generally making them a great choice as a family dog. Maltese's are very soft, social, easy to train, lazy and friendly but can be yippy and sensitive to changes in their environment as far as energy or sounds. They are amazing lap dogs that develop strong bonds to 1-2 people in a household. They have almost no prey drive and are one of the most willing and mild tempered of the toy breeds. The overall goal of us Morkie breeders is to create that 'perfect balance' of temperament characteristics in the resulting puppies. These teeny cuddle bugs have a sweet and loving nature, a true lap dog that prove to be a dedicated, entertaining and amiable addition to most any family! If this breed sounds like it would be a great fit for your family we invite you to fill out an application!

How We Raise Our Puppies

Regardless of their breed, Australian Shepherd or Morkie, all of our puppies are raised with the same amount of love, tenderness and devotion from the day they are born until the day they go home to their families. We handle them from the moment they are born, shower them with affection and fill them with love in the hopes they will develop into the wonderful, well rounded family members we know they have the potential to be! Puppies are worked with on several skills sets such as potty training and obedience training and gently introduced to social skills from an early age. We work with them daily to build their confidence in many areas such as grooming, travel, noises, other animals and experiences. The environment they are kept in changes weekly as they learn about the world around them and develop new skills to navigate it. We love to keep them engaged and challenge them with gentle introductions to new stimuli each week as they grow. Their nursery area is kept cleaned and sanitized for their safety as well as to benefit their learning. Families get weekly picture, video and informational updates to keep them in the loop with how their individual puppy is developing and all the new things they are learning each week! Puppies go home to their families at 8 weeks old 100% crate trained as well as 100% litter trained and well started on both potty training and basic obedience training. All puppies see our family veterinarian Dr Beth at less than 72 hours old for their basic health assessments, to get their dew claws removed and tails docked (only on Australian Shepherd puppies when applicable). The puppies are kept on a biweekly worming schedule starting from the time they are 4 weeks old with a high quality wormer obtained from Dr Beth. She will see them again at 7 weeks old for their comprehensive exams, health certificates, microchips and first set of puppy shots (this includes distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and leptospirosis). We allow on site visits at any time to approved families only so long as we do not have puppies under 4 weeks old on the property. Puppies are released to go home to their families at 8 weeks or older. We offer lifetime breeder support to all of our puppy families!
